Dr. Andrew

Andrew Meulenberg, Jr. earned a B.A. from the University of the South, Sewanee, Tenn. and a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn. He spent 27 years at COMSAT Labs (Clarksburg, MD) being responsible for predicting, monitoring, correcting, and preventing space-environmental effects on communications satellites, for developing and managing the space-environment-simulation laboratory, and for developing new devices and concepts for space-satellite systems. After 5 years as an independent aerospace consultant in the US and in Europe and 5 years as Principal Scientist in the Opto-Electronics Department at Draper Labs (Cambridge, MA), he retired to teach and do independent research as Visiting Scientist at the Indian Institute of Science (Bangalore) and, more recently, as Senior Lecturer at Universiti Sains Malaysia (Penang). His main interests and publications at this point are in alternative energies, space-systems concepts, and fundamental physics (light and particles).
